Amazon Will Continue to Sell the Kindle 2.0
An inside source from Amazon reports that Amazon will indeed continue to sell the Kindle 2.0.
When Amazon introduced the Kindle 2.0, the company stopped selling the Kindle 1. And for good reason. The Kindle 1 had been out of stock for months. After the Oprah effect took place (http://kindle-tips.com/is-the-kindle-20-the-ipod-for-books/), the Kindle 1 flew off the shelves. 2008 Christmas shopping whiped out whatever stock Amazon could muster up and the Kindle 1 went to backorders.
Enter the Kindle 2.0. The Kindle 2 started to ship in February of 2009. The Kindle 1 orders were fulfilled with the new Kindle 2. A new and improved Kindle version, this ebook reader went to 16 shades of gray. It may sound trivial (who really thought there could be 16 shades of gray anyway?) but take a look at the difference in four (Kindle 1) and sixteen (Kindle 2).

So when Amazon announced that it would start shipping the Kindle DX on June 10, I had to wonder if the Kindle 2.0 would go the same way as the Kindle 1. Would people still be able to get this more affordable Kindle 2.0 ($359) after the Kindle DX ($489) started to ship?
A source from Amazon assures me that the Kindle 2.0 will continue to be sold along with the Kindle DX. Amazon claims that the Kindle DX is geared towards a different market than the Kindle 2.0 and they will continue to sell both units.
